The most wonderful time of the year

Hello and Happy New Year!
I hope you had a most wonderful time at Christmas - spending time with loved ones, indulging in a treat or two, and giving and receiving gifts. Throw in a Christmas movie or two, some carol singing, and twinkling lights - surely wherever you are around this big old world of ours that sets the scene for the most festive and wonderful time of the year :)

Here in New Zealand we enjoyed a sunny hot Christmas but have welcomed in the New Year with a slightly damp spell of the wet stuff - but I'm not complaining as it's keeping the grass green and filling our water tanks!

Here are just a few pics from our festive week:

In our house we have to watch
the Muppets Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve
particularly for Kermit singing 'There's only one more sleep 'till Christmas' !!

We decided to move outdoors for our Christmas meal this year so we got all set up on Christmas Eve
My parents are staying in the campervan and we put up a gazebo with flyscreens, rope light (and a disco ball!)

Christmas Eve we all went to the carol service at the cathedral in Hamilton

Christmas Day - presents under the tree :)

Christmas Day lunch in the garden - we had ham, salmon on the BBQ, and lots of salads
then... sherry trifle yum yum!
Relaxing in the evening with games around the Christmas tree

Boxing Day swim followed by tea, Christmas cake and gingerbread

We enjoyed an afternoon on the Waikato River - exploring downstream through Hamilton on our kayaks

Took in a visit to the lovely Hamilton Gardens

Continued to pick fresh produce from the vege garden

Aptly named (thanks Brian) Gigantorberry

We've also been slightly busy with a few little and not so little jobs around the house. I'll bring you some pics soon but it's very exciting and all beginning to look a lot like.... a house extension!
